Now all of that was changed, and he knew he wasn't the only one who'd been left reeling. But he couldn't afford to let that slow him down. If he slowed down, then he'd have too much time to think, and if he thought, then he'd just get bogged down in what-ifs and regrets. He'd never had time for those before, and he wasn't making time for them now.
At least, that was the idea. The compound was quiet now, a fact Tony tried to cover up by blasting AC/DC or Black Sabbath a little louder than was strictly necessary. He very nearly missed Ava's arrival and her saying his name, but the movement he spotted from the corner of his eye got his attention, and he lowered the music so that they wouldn't have to shout. ]
Hey. You just get here?
[ He was used to people just showing up, and if he was going to be at least a little bit honest, the company would be a nice change of pace. ]

Yeah, just a few minutes ago. I like the tunes.
[Old, sure, but Ava's been listening to pretty much the same music since she turned twelve, so she's hardly one to judge. Of course, talking about music isn't really why she's here, and she knows that he's smart enough to be aware of that. But Ava's never been great with people, so just coming out and asking him how he's holding up was hard. It wasn't like they'd been close enough to where it was the sort of thing that had precedent.
But she'd been worried. And it had seemed- important. Easier than reaching out to Natasha and either having the call fall into the ether or have to talk to Natasha and ask for help. She didn't need to be rescued twice.]
I know Nat's gone, but- you mind if I stay a while?
[That's easier. Not that she doesn't have anywhere else to go, exactly. But with the Avengers falling apart, she can't just watch it happen.]

Thanks. They help with concentration.
[ He knows how that sounds, but it's what works for him. And he also knows in part why she's come, that it's not just to listen to his music. Things are turned upside down, and friendships and alliances have all been dropped on their heads. ]
Mind? Nah.
[ He pauses, and gives her a small smile. ]
The company would be nice. [ Okay, he also is fond of his alone time, but he's had a little bit too much of that lately. ]
Make yourself at home.
